ALMA — It was an important 5A-West football game as Harrison traveled to Alma on Friday night.

Both teams came into game with identical 3-1 league records. However, Alma left the stadium with second place in their pocket as they defeated the Goblins, 49-14.

Alma travels to Greenbrier on Friday for a battle for the conference title.

The Airedales had the ball seven times in the first half. They scored touchdowns on five of those possessions and fumbled once on the goal line.

With the score at 14-0, Harrison had their lone score of the first half when Goblin senior Taner Edwards hit Daniel McCormick on an 18-yard touchdown pass.

Micah Ford added the point after attempt to cut the Airedale lead in half at 14-7.

The Dogs answered quickly. It took 69 seconds for the home team to move the lead back to 14 points.

Alma scored twice more in the final 3:16 of the half.
The Airedales took the second half kickoff and used 1:41 to activate the mercy rule with another touchdown. 

Alma scored once more on a Pick 6 to move ahead 49-7.

Getting one more late score in the fourth period, Harrison set the final score. Edwards carried the ball across the goal line.

Ford hit the point after attempt. 

Harrison will be back at home on Friday as they host Maumelle for Senior Night.
