Over a stretch of 11-straight games, the Lady Goblins of Harrison have allowed just one goal on the soccer pitch. That one goal was against Shiloh Christian on April 3.
On Wednesday afternoon at F.S. Garrison Stadium in the 4A-West District Tournament, the Harrison squad avenged that point by kicking a 6-0 shutout win against the Lady Saints. The win sent the Lady Goblins to the finals of the district tournament where they faced Dardanelle on Thursday in the finals.
Wednesday’s matchup began with the Lady Goblins scoring on four of their first seven shots on goal to take a 4-0 lead into halftime.
The first goal came as Clare Barger sent a pass across the field to Mia Barrett. Barrett then set her feet and buried the ball into the back of the net.
Just five minutes later, Barrett returned the favor to Barger. A cross by Barrett resulted in Barger scoring on a header to make it a 2-0 game.
Elise Bell made her first splash on the scorebook with an assist to Barger for a score inside the box. Bell’s next assist came at the 27-minute mark when she delivered a corner kick to Noelle Pall for the second header of the game and the final score of the first half.
Harrison’s offense continued to flow after intermission as they put up another two goals while dominating the time of possession.
A Barger shot was deflected and Barrett was there to clean up the rebound with a follow up shot to make it a 5-0 affair.
With 33 minutes remaining in the contest, Harrison scored its last goal. It came when Olivia Pall made a crossing pass from the end line and Bell found the back of the net from the penalty spot to set the final score.
Barger and Barrett each scored two goals in the win while Noelle Pall and Bell scored one apiece.
Bell and Barger registered two assists apiece on the day to accompany one each from Olivia Pall and Barrett.
Harrison’s result from Thursday’s game will determine their seeding in the upcoming Class 4A State Soccer Championship which they will be hosting.
