The brackets are set for postseason softball.
On Wednesday, the eight teams from the 4A-1 will hit the softball dirt to determine which teams keep their seasons alive.
After winning the conference title with a 19-2 record and an 8-0 margin in the 4A-1, Farmington takes the No. 1 seed. Harrison follows with a 6-1 conference mark and the Lady Goblins are 15-7 overall. Berryville enters the bracket as the No. 7 seed with a 1-7 league record and are 3-13 overall.
Harrison and Berryville meet each other in the opening round. The Lady Goblins will host the game at Cavender’s Field on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
“I’m always excited to see what we can do, almost anxious” said Harrison head coach Jacob Lisko about the postseason. “Every day is a chance to improve from the beginning of the season. There will be no different approach and we will continue to improve from here on out.”
The Lady Goblins have a new look this season as last season never took place.
“It’s been a tale of two teams,” Lisko continued. “With COVID-19, we’ve had two incoming classes with the freshman and sophomores all new to the team. Since spring break, both classes have utilized their game experience and we’ve been 9-2 since the break.”
The coach feels that they’ve “yet to reach their utmost potential” and that is a good sign for the Lady Goblins as he noted that “there are no bad teams from this point on.
“I feel like they’ve worked hard all year to put us in a great position to continue to be successful during the postseason,” the coach concluded.
The winner of Wednesday’s local game will be paired on Thursday against the winner of Pea Ridge and Gravette. That game will be at Farmington at 6 p.m.
On the other side of the bracket, top-seeded Farmington plays No. 8 Huntsville on Wednesday. The winner of that contest will meet in Farmington at 4 p.m. on Thursday against the winner of Gentry and Prairie Grove.
Winners of the semifinal matchups will play in the finals on Friday at 6 p.m. in Farmington. The third-place game will be on Friday at 4 p.m.
