HOT SPRINGS — Harrison senior Alex Hill was named as the the Most Valuable Player of the Class 4A State Basketball Tournament on Saturday morning.
The Lady Goblins defeated Farmington, 68-54, in the championship game that was held at the Hot Springs Convention Center.
Hill finished the game hitting 30 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.
The senior finished the contest connecting on 13-of-17 free throws including eight in a row from the 2:33 mark to the 53 second mark of the fourth period.
Hill, who transferred from Alpena High School this season, will be playing basketball in the Great American Conference next season.
She signed a national letter-of-intent to play next season at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville.
Hill is an all-around athlete. She played volleyball, basketball and ran track at Alpena. While she was there, Hill won individually or was a part of 15 district track title events. She won seven state titles in Class 1A.
She was selected as All-State and All-Conference in basketball and track and was an All-Conference athlete in volleyball.
Her love of the game is important as she expressed at her signing.
"Basketball teaches you discipline and that hard work is valuable," stated the senior. "It's a sport that shows if you put in the time and work, you see the rewards. It's taught me personally that trusting in people around you is important because you can't win a game by yourself."
Over the postseason tournaments, Hill scored 95 points in the state tournament’s four games. That averages 23.75 a game.
In the district tournament, Hill scored 28 points in two games for 14.0 a contest. She hit for 57 in the regional tournament for an average of 19.0 a game.
She scored 180 points in postseason play in nine games. That is an average of 20.0 a contest.
