SOUTHSIDE — The winner of the game has the opportunity to play for a state title.

Harrison and Batesville were ready to play in the semifinals of the Class 4A State Soccer Tournament being held at Batesville Southside High School.

When the game was over, it was Harrison moving to the finals that will be played at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. Harrison defeated Batesville, 2-0.


This will mark Harrison's first trip to the finals in six seasons. The Goblins own six state titles.

Harrison advanced to the finals due to corner kicks.

Max Payne put the ball in play for Harrison on both goals.

The junior lined the ball up and found Corbin Simpson on the first kick.

Simpson scored for the Goblins with 38 minutes left in the game.

The final score of the game came with more than 31 minutes left in the contest. Payne put the ball in play and Jacob Shrum found the net for Harrison.

Rilee Jones was in the goal for Harrison in the shotout win.

Harrison will play Valley View in the finals.

Valley View worked its way through the tournament with wins over three schools.

The Blazers, who entered the tournament as the No. 2 seed from the 4A-North, defeated Prairie Grove in the opening game, 6-0. In the quarterfinals, the Blazers defeated DeQueen, 4-2 before blanking Mena in the semifinals, 4-0.

Valley View’s last loss came in the finals of the 4A-North tournament where they fell to Batesville.
