SOUTHSIDE — It doesn’t matter how many runs a team wins by, the nature of the game is win.

Thursday afternoon, at Batesville Southside High School, Harrison played Camden Fairview in the opening game of the Class 4A State Baseball Tournament.

When the game was over, Harrison finished on top of the Cardinals, 5-3.


Breckin Duck was the winning pitcher for the Goblins. He pitched six innings for Harrison giving up four hits and three runs. He walked four and struck out two.

Cole Keylon pitched the final inning for Harrison. He was at the top of the order and struck out the first two batters and then finished it with a fly ball to right final to secure Harrison’s Elite Eight finish.

Harrison took a 1-0 lead after the first and then scored again in the second to tie the contest at 2-2 after two innings.

Tanner Taylor was the hero in the first inning. He took a walk and then moved to second base on a passed ball.

He later scored to give Harrison the lead.

In the second inning, Colton Shaver rounded the bases to tie the contest.

Both teams put a run across the plate in the third.

Carson Journagan tied the contest for the Goblins in the third inning after a lead off hit.

Harrison’s fourth inning run came from Taylor again. He also scored in the bottom of the sixth inning to finish the run count.

Harrison finished the game with six hits on the day.

With the victory, the Goblins move to the quarterfinals to face Valley View at 10 a.m. on Friday.
