The place to be on Tuesday afternoon to soak up sun and soccer was the Anstaff Sports Complex on the banks of Crooked Creek.

Berryville traveled east for a 4A-West matchup with Harrison after being defeated by both teams the previous week.

The Lady Goblins began the sun-filled event and convincingly beat Berryville, 8-1. The Goblins shutout the Bobcats by a 5-0 mark.


Senior Girls

Harrison scored in bunches on its way to an 8-1 win over the Lady Bobcats.

Kenzie Parker put Harrison on the board early with an unassisted goal. Parker then assisted to teammate Sydney Shrum during the 33rd minute to put Harrison ahead, 2-0.

The final 11 minutes of the first half featured the Lady Goblins punching five more goals in the net.

Brylie Parker scored on a penalty kick to begin the scoring burst. Olivia Pall then broke away from the defense with an unassisted goal. Less than a minute later, Elise Bell found the back of the net to give Harrison a 5-0 lead.

At the 4-minute mark, Brylie Parker delivered a corner kick to the front of the goal where Shrum sent a header into the net.

Berryville responded when Maryn Jones worked through the Lady Goblin defense to tally a goal on the visitor’s side.

With under a minute remaining in the first half, Brylie Parker gained control of a rebound off the goal post and directed the ball into the net to put the Lady Goblins ahead by a 7-1 score at intermission.

Harrison’s Mattie Richardson scored the lone goal of the second half and the Lady Goblins earned an 8-1 victory when the clock stopped for the final time.

Makayla Campbell was in the goal for Harrison and collected six saves on seven shots.

Berryville keeper Amber Veach was busy in the goal with 12 saves on 20 shots.

Senior Boys

The Goblins earned their seventh shutout of the season and fourth in a row with a 5-0 win over 4A-West opponent Berryville.

Hunter Holtby assisted to Corbin Simpson for the opening goal at the 24-minute mark of the first half. Holtby scored 4 minutes later after a pass from teammate Spencer Bailey.

With 10 minutes remaining, Max Payne delivered a corner kick to Jacob Shrum who sent the ball into the net to give Harrison a 3-0 lead.

Spencer Bailey registered his second assist of the game when he connected with Holtby for a score just before intermission with Harrison leading, 4-0.

Simpson scored his second goal at the 37-minute mark of the second half to put the Goblins ahead by a 5-0 mark that stood to be the final score.

The Goblins improve to a 9-4-1 overall record and 2-1 in conference.

Harrison hosts Huntsville on Friday in conference play at F.S. Garrison Stadium with the senior girls beginning at 5 p.m. and senior boys to follow.

Berryville hosts Morrilton on Thursday at Bobcat Stadium with senior girls beginning at 5 p.m and senior boys afterwards.
