MORRILTON — The Harrison Lady Goblins have earned a trip to the Class 4A State Basketball Tournament.

Thursday night in Morrilton, the Lady Goblins defeated Pottsville to get their ticket to the big dance. Harrison defeated the Lady Apaches, 67-48.

Heading into the fourth period the game was tied at 41. Pottsville got the ball out of bounds, but junior Lady Goblin Caroline Cecil stole a pass and ran down the floor to hit a layup.

On Pottsville’s next possession, Cecil grabbed a rebound. The Lady Goblins worked the basketball before senior Makayla Campbell launched a trey. The shot found nothing but net and Harrison led 46-41 with 6:48 left.

Pottsville did score on their next possession, but Campbell answered with another long bomb to put Harrison up by six points with 6:09 showing on the clock.

Pottsville hit two free throws with 5:35 left. It was at this point the Lady Goblins decided to melt the clock. Harrison held on to the basketball having to call one timeout over the next 2:22 to hang on to possession of the basketball.

The Lady Goblins’ point guard Sydney Shrum ended the stall with a trey from the top of the key to give Harrison a seven-point lead.

After a Pottsville miss, Cecil collected another rebound. She was fouled. She hit both charity tosses to give the Lady Goblins a 54-45 lead with 2:59 left.

The nine-point lead didn’t seem safe for the Lady Goblins. Harrison turned the ball over on two-straight trips down the floor. However, that resulted in only a free throw added to the Pottsville score.

Over the last 2:25 of the game Harrison hit 11-of-13 free throw attempts to seal the win.

Pottsville took an early 12-7 lead before Harrison whittled the score to 12-9 after one period.

The Lady Goblins then grabbed the lead after Campbell drained two-straight treys from the right side of the key. A Marion Groberg basket with a minute left in the second quarter put Harrison ahead, 27-26, heading into the middle break.

Pottsville took a 32-31 lead in third period, but Cecil hit two field goals and Groberg added another to give Harrison a 37-32 lead.

Pottsville was able to tie the game at 39 and 41 before the period ended.

Harrison moved on to play Farmington on Friday night. If the Lady Goblins won that contest, then the squad will play at 6 p.m. on Saturday. A loss would send the team to the noon third-place game.

Harrison had five players score in double digits led by Cecil with 15 points. Shrum added 14, Brylie Parker 13, Campbell 12, Groberg 10 and Kenzie Parker two.
