Lady Goblins move back into polls

NORTH LITTLE ROCK — The Harrison senior girls have once again claimed a spot in the Class 4A polls.

After defeating Berryville this past week, Harrison moved into the No. 4 spot in Class 4A but remain behind the Lady Bobcats who fell to No. 3.

Berryville still has a place in the Overall poll for the fourth-straight week of the Arkansas Sports Media basketball polls, but fall to No. 10.

Three other Heart of the Ozarks teams find positions in this weeks polls.

Valley Springs’ Lady Tigers hold their spot at No. 4 in Class 3A.

Alpena remains No. 2 in Class 1A.

The only local senior boys team to find a place in the polls are the Tigers of Valley Springs.

Valley Springs was defeated by Jasper in a non-conference road game this week and find themselves falling two spots to No. 4 in Class 3A.

Senior Girls

Berryville falling to No. 10 and North Little Rock moving up to No. 9 are the only changes in the Overall poll this week.

Fort Smith Northside holds at the No. 1 spot as the only undefeated team. Conway sits at No. 2; Fayetteville, No. 3; Nettleton, No. 4; Bentonville, No. 5; Batesville, No. 6; and Vilonia No. 7.

Class 6A was unmoved with Northside at the top of the poll. Nettleton remains atop Class 5A.

The most movement was in Class 4A. Batesville remained at the top of the polls. DeQueen moved up to No. 2 as Berryville fell to No. 3. Harrison was placed at No. 4 and Pea Ridge fell from the No. 4 spot to No. 5.

Charleston continues to lead Class 3A with Mountain View holding second and Hoxie third. Valley Springs is fourth and Riverview moves into the rankings at No. 5.

Bigelow is No. 1 in Class 2A and Norfork sits atop Class 1A.

Alpena follows Norfork in Class 1A followed by Viola, Wonderview and Kirby.

Following is the Overall Top 10 girls high school basketball teams in Arkansas and the top five in Classes 6A, 5A, 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A as voted by a panel of sports media from around the state for the week ending February 2. Ranking is given with first-place votes received, records, total points and last week's rankings:
