A big third quarter is what put the Gentry Lady Pioneers away as Harrison cruised to a 51-29 victory margin.

Sophomore point guard Sydney Shrum started the period with a 3-pointer. Following that basket Caroline Cecil added the next five points with a trey and another field goal. Brylie Parker joined the 3-pointer action next to cap off an 11-point run for Harrison. Before the quarter was over Parker added another trey, as well as Marion Groberg’s four points and Brynn Oleson’s two points.

The Lady Goblins outscored Gentry, 20-2, in the pivotal period.

Harrison got on the board in the first quarter after Cecil completed a three-point play, with Parker getting credit for an assist. Groberg would make two free throws and Shrum a 3-pointer before Gentry got on the board. Oleson added another score with a quick move and drive into the lane. The score was 10-6 after one frame.

In the second period the Lady Pioneers would cut the lead down to three points at the 4:31 mark. After that the Lady Goblins would go on an 8-2 run to go into the locker room leading 22-13.

In the final frame the Lady Goblins were able to get more girls into the game to get some minutes. Oleson scored five points, Shrum added three, and Shayne Gilliam netted a free throw.

Shrum led the Lady Goblins with 14 points, followed by Oleson with 11, Brylie Parker and Cecil eight each, Groberg six, Makayla Campbell, Color’s Day queen, three, and Gilliam one.

Senior Boys

Big scoring nights from senior Carson Journagan and junior Ben Elliott lifted the Harrison Goblins over the Gentry Pioneers by a score of 79-45.

After the first 5 minutes of the game the score was knotted 9-9, and then over the final 3 minutes of the quarter, Harrison would end on a 12-3 run. Harrison’s offense began to click and at the end of the period it was 21-12.

The second period was the Elliott and Journagan show as they combined to score all but one bucket during the frame. Ethan Edwards added the lone 3-point basket. Jacob Shrum would find Elliott who hit two 3-pointers to start the scoring, followed by Edwards. The defensive intensity went up and the half would end with the Goblins having another big 14-1 run. Journagan netted 10 of those and Elliott four.

At halftime the score was 44-21.

Coming out of the lockerroom the Goblins didn’t stop the attack as they continued to play hard. Elliott scored seven more while Journagan added 12. Shrum added a field goal and Edwards his second 3-pointer. The final 3:23 was dominated by Harrison bringing the score to 68-32 after three periods.

In the last frame Kolby Stone, Julius Scott, and Colin Ballard each contributed with a 3-point basket, as well as Dylan Wilson putting in a field goal of his own. The home team was victorious with the scoreboard reading 79-45.

Journagan led the way with 26 points, followed by Elliott with 24, Edwards six, Shrum and Dustin Gundry five each, Ballard, Scott and Stone three apiece and Wilson and Champ Saylors two each.
