SPRINGDALE — It was like daylight and dark in Harrison's contest with Shiloh Christian on Tuesday night in Springdale.

The Saints' offense got rolling early, but night set on the point output and Harrison continued to roll. The Goblins defeated Shiloh Christian, 71-50.

In other action, the Lady Goblins set mercy in place on the way to posting a 56-23 win over Shiloh.


Senior Boys

Harrison used a big run at the end of the game to post a 71-50 win over Shiloh Christian on Tuesday night in Springdale.

With the win, Harrison's record moves to 2-0 in 4A-1 action and is 8-3 overall. Shiloh Christian falls to 0-2 in conference play and 1-10 overall.

Shiloh Christian drained seven treys in the first 12:30 of the game. In the last 19:30 of the contest, the Saints only nailed one trey. The difference was the home team hit 33 points in the first 12:30 of the game and then managed only 17 the last 19:30.

Hitting four triples in the first period, Shiloh Christian took a 19-10 lead. A three-point play and a 3-pointer pushed the Saints to a 15-point lead at 25-10.

During the stretch the Goblins didn't get a field goal and only managed two free throws by Ben Elliott.

Jayce Martin started Harrison back in the scoring column with a dunk. That was then followed by a Carson Journagan score around the hoop.

While Journagan scored twice at the rim for Harrison, his baskets were wrapped around two more Shiloh Christian treys. The last Saints trey came at the 3:30 mark and once again put the home team ahead by 15 points at 33-18.

While the Saints' offense went to bed, the Goblins were ready to get started.

Harrison ended the first half with an 11-0 run. Martin started the run with a free throw. Journagan scored before Champ Saylors hit a layup.

Journagan was fouled trying to score inside. The senior hit both free throws. Elliott continued Harrisons assault on the rim with another layup. The first half came to a close with Journagan stealing a Shiloh Christian pass and hitting a contested layup to end the half at 33-29.

The Goblins, who had trouble handling Shiloh Christian's press in the first half, took their time and started to take control of the game in the third period.

Journagan scored the first seven Harrison points of the second half, but it was a 6-0 run that gave the Goblins their first lead since the 5:36 mark of the first quarter.

Shrum started the run with a mid-range jumper before Huskey gave the Goblins a 40-39 lead with 3:17 showing on the clock.

Saylors scored again for Harrison to hold a three-point advantage.

The Saints scored their only trey of the second half to tie the game, but Harrison closed with a 6-2 run as Journagan scored twice with one of the baskets coming on a no-look pass from Shrum.

Elliott ended the third with a steal and a layup.

Four different Goblins scored to to start the fourth period to give the visitors their first double digit lead of the game.

After Shiloh Christian made it a 56-48 contest, the Goblins ended the game with a 15-2 run with Journagan ending the game with a dunk.

Harrison was led by Journagan with 34 points. Elliott added 14, Shrum, Huskey and Saylors six each and Martin five.

Senior Girls

The Harrison girls could have been a member of the Air Force on Tuesday night. Against Shiloh Christian in Springdale, the Lady Goblins released 13 bombs from behind the arc on the way to posting a 56-23 win over the Lady Saints.

Harrison finished the night making 19 field goals with only six of those being inside the arc.

With 3:02 showing on the clock in the fourth period, the Lady Goblins activated the Arkansas Good Sportsmanship rule after taking a 54-23 lead over the Lady Saints with a Mackenzie Dillon layup.

Harrison struck early from long range in the first period. Brylie Parker hit four 3-pointers for the Lady Goblins in the first period. Another long shot by Sydney Shrum and field goals by Caroline Cecil and Marion Groberg led Harrison to a 19-9 first period lead.

Turning to defense in the second period, the Lady Goblins held Shiloh Christian to four total points.

Three different players scored from long range in the second period for the Lady Goblins. Makayla Campbell, Dillon and Shrum each found the net from afar and Parker scored inside to complete the Harrison charge and give the visitors a 30-13 advantage heading into the lockerroom.

In a rarity, the Lady Goblins only made three trips to the free throw line in the entire game. All three of those trips came in the third period when being fouled on shots.

Groberg, Parker and Kenzie Parker each made a trip. Groberg and Brylie Parker each hit both tosses and Kenzie Parker the other. In the frame, the 3s continued to fall.

Shrum, Dillon and Cecil each nailed one as the Harrison lead expanded to 46-17.

Brylie Parker led Harrison with 16 points. She had four treys. Dillon and Shrum had three 3-pointers each and 11 points. Cecil had five points, Groberg four, Campbell and Maggie Salmon three each, Brynn Oleson two and Kenzie Parker one.

The Lady Goblins play on Thursday night as the team travels to Van Buren.
