LITTLE ROCK — It will be an all private school finale in the Class 5A State Football Playoffs this season.

Friday night Pulaski Academy defeated Harrison, 75-54, and Little Rock Christian Academy defeated Morrilton, 61-42.

Pulaski Academy won the 5A-Central this season with Little Rock Christian finishing second. Harrison won the 5A-West with Morrilton getting the No. 2 spot from the league.

During the regular season, the Bruins defeated Little Rock Christian in a lopsided affair. However, the Warriors were playing without their all-everything quarterback.

Harrison's game with Pulaski Academy was one of the highest scoring games in Arkansas playoff history.

The Bruins took a 20-14 lead after the first quarter, but could only watch as Harrison came back to take a double digit lead late in the frame.

After holding Pulaski Academy scoreless for the first 9:41 of the second frame, the home team scored three times in the final 2:19 of the period after collecting two onside kicks. The Bruins led, 46-35, at halftime.

It took PA only eight plays to score to start the third period and Harrison found itself down, 54-35.

The Goblins didn't give up. The team battled back and trailed, 60-48, heading into the final period.

The loss was Harrison's first of the season. The team ends the season with a 12-1 mark.

This was Harrison's sixth team to reach the semifinals of the state playoffs. This year was the Goblins' 21st conference title.

Harrison has won one state title and that was in 1999 when the team finished 14-0.

Pulaski Academy has won the last four state titles and has not lost a game to an instate team since Morrilton defeated them in the quarterfinals of the state tournament five seasons ago.
