HARRISON GIRLS PICK UP WIN

CAVE SPRINGS — On Monday the Harrison golf teams got a first hand view of the course that will be the beginning of its postseason hopes. Playing The Creeks, the group matched up with fellow 4A-1 golf teams Monday on the course that will be the team’s district golf match next week. “This was a good opportunity for us,” said Harrison coach Don Price. “We have seen all of the conference opponents before our district match. We saw the course that we will be playing.” The Lady Goblins came away with a win in the event while the Goblins recorded a third place finish. Harrison’s girls recorded a 279 to best Shiloh Christian by 29 strokes. Prairie Grove finished with a 351 and Gentry a 369. Shiloh Christian won the boys match with a 226. Prairie Grove carded a 250; Harrison, 276; Prairie Grove 296; and Lincoln 308. Senior Girls The Harrison Lady Goblins took a 29-hole win over Shiloh Christian in the match. “Shiloh Christian beat us early in a nine-hole match,” said Price. “It was good that we took care of business. Them and Gravette will be two of the teams to watch for in districts. We have a shot. “It was good to see the course,” continued the coach. “That will really help us next week. These girls have really gotten better this year match after match.” Leading the charge was Thea Norcross with an 89. Ellakaye Spry and Halle Marseilles each shot a 95 and Riley Richardson a 101. Senior Boys The Harrison senior boys finished third in the five-team meet. “We are getting better,” said Price about the Goblins. “Shiloh Christian and Pea Ridge are really good teams. We have our work cut out for us at district. “We want to be the third place team, so we can go to state,” continued the coach. “However, if we don’t make that, we want some individuals to qualify.” Harrison was back in action on Wednesday and will compete on Thursday at Harrison Country Club. Nic Thiel led Harrison with an 89. Ben Elliott shot a 92 and Max Payne a 95.
