GREENBRIER CELEBRATES AT HARRISON'S HOMECOMING

The Blue and Gold celebrated homecoming at Harrison High School on Friday night. However, the opponents, Greenbrier, left with the gold and Harrison left blue. The Panthers defeated the Goblins, 33-16. With the loss, the 5A-West league race became a circus. Harrison and Maumelle both entered the night tied for first with 3-0 5A-West marks. Both teams lost while Alma and Greenbrier both picked up league wins to force a four-way tie for first place with 3-1 records. Morrilton and Farmington are only one-game behind the pack of four with 2-2 conference records. The Goblins came out of the lockerroom after halftime and went to work. Gabe Huskey picked up 7 yards on the first play of the half and then he picked up 50 yards off of an option from Noah Ditmanson. The play moved the ball to the 10. Huskey then picked up 4 yards before scoring from 6 yards out with 10:38 left in the third period. Ditmanson found Colton Shaver for the two-point conversion to pull Harrison within a score at 16-8. The Harrison excitement was short-lived. Greenbrier marched down the field and connected on a 24-yard field goal to set the score at 19-8. Harrison was unable to move the football on its next possession and Greenbrier ate up the rest of the period as they scored on the first play of the fourth to take a 26-8 lead. Needing to score, the Goblins used 4:29 of the clock and 10 plays on their next scoring drive. Huskey carried the ball over from the 3. Ditmanson hit Daniel McCormick for the two-point conversion to bring Harrison within, 26-16, with 7 minutes left. That excitement was over quickly. Greenbrier needed only one play and a 51-yard run to double up the Goblins. Harrison could not get its offense rolling in the first half. The team ran 18 offensive plays in the first half. Those plays netted the Goblins 59 yards of offense. The explosive Goblin ground attack netted only 19 yards in the first two quarters. Ten of those yards came on the Wildgob in a direct snap to Huskey. Harrison quarterback Ditmanson was 7-of-13 passing for 40 yards in the first 24 minutes. Greenbrier got on the scoreboard on its second possession. The Panthers picked up 72 yards and three first downs before scoring on a 24-yard pass play with 4:37 left in the first quarter. With 2:04 left in the first half, Greenbrier hit a 40-yard field goal. Just 56 seconds later, an interception was returned for a touchdown. The point after attempts was no good setting the score at 16-0 at intermission. The Goblins will be back at home on Friday night as they face Alma in an important contest. Greenbrier will host Clarksville.
