The Harrison Goblins had to put up a fight for a fifth-place finish.

On Friday night, Harrison won its final game of the Lendel Thomas Classic, 68-54, over Episcopal to take fifth place in the tournament.

Trevor Atwell opened the game with a 3-pointer for the Goblins and Tanner Curry added a free throw shortly after for a 4-3 Harrison lead.

A jumper from Atwell tied the game at 6-6, but Episcopal would then go on an 11-2 run.

Harrison’s loan score during the stretch came on a layup from Braeden Boren.

With Episcopal holding a 17-8 lead, the Goblin offense began to click.

Boren hit a floater in the lane before knocking down a triple from the left wing.

Atwell got a steal and finished with a two-handed slam to pull Harrison within a basket.

Episcopal got back on the board with two points, but Harrison continued its charge.

Atwell hit Skyler Young with a no-look pass for an easy layup before Colton Youngblood recorded a steal and a layup to knot the game at 19-19 with 6:14 to play in the first half.

Youngblood then knocked down a pair of foul shots to give Harrison a 21-19 lead.

Episcopal rattled off six-straight points to move ahead once again, but Atwell scored with a finger roll before Youngblood hit another free throw and Curry added two foul shots of his own to stake Harrison to a 28-27 lead at the half.

The second half was all Harrison.

Nathan Jenkins hit two foul shots to open the half and Curry added an up-and-under score for a 32-29 lead.

Atwell grabbed a steal and hit Boren for a layup and Jackson Marseilles took a pass from Curry for a score.

A basket from Boren and two free throws from Curry gave Harrison a 40-32 advantage.

Atwell began to assert himself with a driving layup and a free throw before going strong to the bucket and posterizing an Episcopal defender with a monster dunk, giving Harrison its first double-digit lead of the night at 47-37.

Episcopal would get no closer than eight points of Harrison’s lead as Atwell added another two dunks down the stretch.
Atwell finished with 21 points to lead Harrison in scoring. Boren added 19, Curry eight, Marseilles seven, Youngblood six, Jenkins five and Young two.
