It has been a couple of years in the making, but Thursday night Harrison met Alma in 5A-West volleyball action.

Alma spent a pair of years in Class 6A before moving back to Class 5A this cycle.
Harrison didn’t mind Alma’s move back.

The Lady Goblins dismissed Alma in three sets, 25-12, 26-24, 25-18, after winning the junior varsity match in two lopsided sets.

After rolling through the first set, the Lady Goblins had to make a late rally to claim the second set of the night.

Alma was leading, 22-20, when Peyton Knight had a kill to pull the home team within a point.

The Airedalettes scored the next two points to make it set point.

Harrison dug its heals in to score the next five points of the set as Linsey Choate and Julianna Cramer had a kill each in the rally.

After coming off the big lead, Harrison scored a 4-1 lead in the third set with all four points coming from offensive scores by Brooklin Edwards. Edwards started the set with a tip before having back-to-back kills and a block to make it 4-1.

Knight had two kills in a row and Choate added one to make it an 8-6 affair.

After Alma scored, the Lady Goblins went on an 8-0 run.

Jessica Pratt started the run with a kill before Cramer added tip. Edwards had a tip before Pratt had a spike find the floor.

The rally was finished off by Cramer having back-to-back kills.

The Lady Goblins never saw their margin fall below five points the rest of the night as five Harrison players scored points in their last seven scores.

Harrison recorded 19 offensive points in the second set and 18 in the third set. The Lady Goblins only managed 12 offensive points in the first set as Alma struggled to get its offense rolling.

Pratt started things with a kill and an ace before Katelynn Grant served up an ace later as Harrison doubled up Alma, 10-5.
Harrison stretched its lead to double digits after Cramer had a kill and an ace to make it 17-7.

Edwards, Knight and Cramer had a kill to account for three of the last four points of the set.

Leading Harrison on the night was Edwards with eight kills, three tips and one block. Pratt had seven kills, one tip and two aces; Cramer six kills, three tips and one ace; Knight seven kills and one block;

Choate four kills and one tip; Maddie Richardson two kills; and Izzy Gibbany and Grant one kill each.
