4A-WEST DISTRICT SOCCER TOURNAMENT

BERRYVILLE — After securing a spot in the Class 4A State Soccer Tournament, both of Harrison’s soccer teams had their eyes set on the district championship. But first they had to get past their semifinal matchups. Bobcat Stadium in Berryville hosted the final four teams in the 4A-West Region. Harrison was paired against the home team of Berryville in the senior girls matchup. The Lady Goblins continued their streak off shutout wins by defeating the Lady Bobcats by a 4-0 score. The senior boys contest matched Harrison against Clarksville. The Goblins gained control in the second half and finished with a 2-1 victory. Senior Girls It was the Lady Goblins’ eighth-straight shutout win when they defeated Berryville by a 4-0 score in the semifinals of the 4A-West Regional Soccer Tournament. Grace Martin hit the scoreboard first for Harrison at the 27-minute mark after an assist from teammate Kenzie Parker. The second score came from Claire Doshier who sent an unassisted shot into the back of the net. Parker scored her second goal of the first half with under a minute remaining after sending a pass from Olivia Pall into the net. The Lady Goblins led at halftime, 3-0. Pall connected with Parker for the second time with 19 minutes left in the second half. The score stood after the Parker goal and Harrison cruised to a 4-0 win. Makayla Campbell was in goal for 60 minutes and had one save. Maggie Salmon collected one save in 20 minutes. The Lady Goblins played Prairie Grove on Friday in the district championship. Harrison will begin action on May 9 at Batesville Southside High School. Senior Boys Harrison advanced to the finals of the 4A-West District Tournament after defeating Clarksville, 2-1. At the 21-minute mark in the first half, Harrison’s Hunter Holtby scored off a pass from Spencer Bailey to get Harrison on the scoreboard. Clarksville added a goal in the opening half and both teams were tied at intermission, 1-1. With 8 minutes remaining in the contest, Bailey connected with Holtby for the second Goblin score of the day to put Harrison ahead, 2-1. The score held until the final buzzer and the Goblins advanced to the district championship. Rilee Jones was in the goal for Harrison and collected 12 saves on 13 shots. The Goblins played Dardanelle on Friday evening in the championship for a spot at a No. 1 seed in the state tournament that will be held at Batesville Southside High School beginning on May 9.
