HARRISON SOCCER KICKS OFF

Soccer season has arrived and soccer fans are hoping the spring weather is shortly behind. So far in this young season, the senior boys and senior girls have had a match against Siloam Springs and hosted the ReMax Cup held at F.S. Garrison Stadium. The Goblins were defeated in the opening match against Siloam Springs, 4-1. They then tied with Rogers in the ReMax cup, 1-1, then won over Berryville by a 4-1 score and finished with a 3-0 rematch win over the Panthers. advertisement Harrison’s Lady Goblins faced a 2-0 loss to Siloam Springs in their first game. Rogers handed them a 4-2 loss in the first ReMax Cup match. They then defeated Berryville by a 4-1 mark and then lost to Heritage, 4-1. Senior Boys Siloam Springs 4, Harrison 1 Harrison got behind early and could only manage one goal in a 4-1 loss to Siloam Springs. The Panthers got on the board 11 seconds into the game and extended their lead to a 2-0 margin at halftime. Siloam Springs added two more before Henrique Sammarco scored off a Hunter Holtby assist late in the game for the Goblins. Rilee Jones gave up four goals on 10 shots as the Goblin keeper. ReMax Cup Harrison 1, Rogers 1 The scoreboard reflected Harrison and Rogers tied at 1 in the first game of the ReMax Cup. The Goblins scored in the first half with Corbin Simpson finding Henrique Sammarco for a goal. Rogers equalized the score late in the second half. Jones had 12 saves on 13 shots. Harrison 4, Berryville 1 The Goblins took an early lead and held on for a 4-1 victory. Spencer Bailey got the scoring started 12 minutes into the game for the Goblins. Holtby added two first-half goals and Harrison held a 3-0 lead at intermission. The third goal of the game by Holtby finished Harrison’s scoring at 4. Sammarco, Simpson and Bailey each earned an assist to Holtby. Berryville scored midway through the second half to get on the board. Jones had three saves on four shots for the Goblins. Harrison 3, Siloam Springs 0 Harrison claimed the cup with a 3-0 rematch win over Siloam Springs The Goblins made serious corrections between the last two games these teams played. Kaden Jones began the scoring off a Holtby cross in the first half. Holtby then added his own goal in the first half and assisted on a diving header from Sammarco in the second half. Jones got the shutout making six saves on the night. The Goblins claim the ReMax Cup title for the first time since the mid 2000’s. Senior Girls Siloam Springs 2, Harrison 0 Harrison couldn’t find the back of the net and were defeated by Siloam Springs, 2-0. The Lady Panthers scored a goal in each half against the Lady Goblins. Linsey Choate had 14 saves on 16 shots for Harrison. Claire Doshier led the shot production for the Lady Gobs with four attempts. ReMax Cup Rogers 4, Harrison 2 Rogers outscored the Lady Goblins 2-1 in each half en route to defeating Harrison, 4-2, in the ReMax Cup. The Lady Goblins got on the board with a Mattie Richardson goal assisted by Elise Bell in the first half. The Lady Mountaineers of Rogers scored the next Harrison goal off a Kaitlyn Pratt corner kick in the second half. Choate had two saves on six shots on goal for Harrison. Harrison 4, Berryville 1 The Lady Goblins controlled the second half and took a 4-1 win from Berryville. Olivia Pall scored the Lady Goblins’ first goal midway through the first half. Pall, Richardson and Doshier had goals in the second half. Richardson, Pall and Grace Martin had assists for the Lady Gobs. Choate got the win in goal making three saves on four shots. Heritage 4, Harrison 1 Heritage scored early and often building a 3-0 by halftime and defeated Harrison in the end, 4-1. Doshier scored in the second half for Harrison’s lone goal and Heritage added another to round out the scoring. Choate had 10 saves on 14 shots. On Deck Both Harrison teams are in conference play on Thursday at Gentry and at home on Friday vs Prairie Grove. The Lady Gobs are 1-3-0 to begin the season. The Goblins currently hold a 2-1-1 record.
