HARRISON GOBLINS VS. SHILOH CHRISTIAN BASKETBALL

With postseason seeding still up for grabs in 4A-1, the Goblins of Harrison were looking to add a win to their record on Tuesday night. Harrison hosted Shiloh Christian during Senior Night in the final regular season home game at Goblin Arena. The student section was chanting “warm up the bus” midway through the fourth quarter as Harrison defeated the Saints by a 69-47 score. advertisement Shiloh Christian scored first but Harrison was ready to rally back. Jacob Shrum hit a pair of 3-pointers that sandwiched a layup from Carson Journagan to create an 8-0 run for the Goblins. The Saint’s pressure defense helped in a 7-0 run to get Shiloh Christian ahead on the scoreboard, 9-8. Champ Saylors and Journagan then scored on succeeding baskets for Harrison before Ben Elliott hit a mid-range jump shot. The Saints hit a pair of treys to reclaim the lead with 23.1 seconds left in the first quarter. Harrison held the ball for the last shot and Elliott handed off the ball on the right wing to sophomore Ethan Edwards who nailed a 3 at the buzzer to put the Goblins ahead at the first break, 17-15. The Goblins dominated the rest of the way and continued to build on their lead. Journagan began a 10-0 run to start the second quarter with a short jumper and then a steal and a layup. Elliott scored on a drive into the paint before Shrum grabbed a defensive rebound and went the length of the court for a score. Edwards closed the run with a steal on defense that led to a wide-open layup. Shiloh Christian briefly stopped the bleeding with a score and a foul, but missed the free throw and trailed the Goblins, 27-17. Journagan added another basket before Dustin Gundry sank a 3-pointer from the right corner. The Saints answered back with a pair of triples to get within, 32-23. Elliott responded for Harrison by driving the lane for a bucket and a foul to create a three-point play. The Saints scored with 14.0 seconds remaining in the first half and continued their full-court press. Elliott beat his man off the dribble and crossed the timeline when he found Gundry open for a jumper to set the halftime score, 37-25. Journagan scored six points in the third period with a pair of low-post scores and a set of free throws. Shrum landed his third 3-pointer of the night to go with a pair of freebies and Elliott added three points as Harrison outscored the Saints by a 14-12 edge to take a 51-37 lead into the fourth quarter. Shrum scored in the post early in the fourth quarter to start an 8-0 run for Harrison. The run included a spinning shot from Journagan followed by a layup from Elliott. Shrum capped off the run with another defensive rebound that he took the length of the court for a layup. A 3 from Shiloh Christian was then matched by a three-point play from Elliott followed by a score from Journagan in the low post. Saylors scored in the paint after spinning around his defender to put the Goblins ahead, 66-41 with 2:23 remaining. Journagan finished the Goblin scoring with a 3-pointer from the top of the key. Shiloh Christian scored the final four points of the game but Harrison had the game put away. The Goblins were led by Journagan with a game high 23 points while Shrum and Elliott scored 15 points apiece. Saylors finished with six points and Gundry and Edwards five each. Harrison travels to Farmington on Friday to battle with the Cardinals of Farmington in the final conference game of the regular season. Farmington currently sits atop the 4A-1 standings.
