PARKER’S GOAL ENOUGH FOR LADY GOBLIN WIN

One goal was scored in the senior girls match while none found the back of the net in the boys match. Luckily for the Harrison Lady Goblins, they put the lone goal on the board to pick up a 1-0 victory over Greenwood. Sadly, for the Harrison boys, the lack of offense led to penalty kicks where Greenwood prevailed, 4-1, in the shootout to claim the victory at F.S. Garrison Stadium. Senior Girls One goal decided the outcome. It just happened to be the only goal of the game that went in the Lady Goblins’ favor for a 1-0 victory over Greenwood. Neither team was able to put a score on the board in the first half, but Harrison struck in the second. The Lady Goblins were awarded a corner kick and it was Brylie Parker who lined up to take the kick for Harrison. Parker bent the ball past the keeper, giving Harrison a 1-0 lead. That lead would stand as the Lady Goblins kept Greenwood out of the net for the remainder of the match. Makayla Campbell was in goal for Harrison and pitched a shutout. She stopped 3-of-3 shots on goal. Senior Boys The Harrison Goblins couldn’t find a way to put the ball in the goal as they lost, 1-0 (4-1), on penalty kicks. Neither team found a way to score in the first half, and the second half saw much of the same. An apparent Harrison goal was negated in the second half to keep the match tied at 0-0. As time expired, the teams prepared for penalty kicks. Greenwood was first to shoot and scored on the shot. Quintin Cone took the first shot for Harrison and beat the Greenwood keeper to knot the shootout at 1-1. Greenwood would make its second shot while Harrison failed to convert for a 2-1 Greenwood lead. In the third round of shooting, Greenwood again buried its shot while Harrison was denied yet again. With a 3-1 lead, a made shot for Greenwood would seal the victory. That shot found the back of the net as the Goblins fell, 4-1, in the shootout. Rylee Jones was in goal for Harrison and stopped 2-of-2 shots on goal. Jones was in the box during penalty kicks.
